A passion for the sport and the lack of a best friend; these reasons brought Filipe Marins to Australia.

An amateur bodybuilding athlete in Curitiba, Brazil, Filipe Marins had no idea of the surprises that the Australian territory give him.

The World Beauty Fitness and Fashion Championship, in Gold Coast, last weekend, grossed more than expected.

He scored the winning title of the Male Muscle Model, securing a place at the Dubai World Championship next year and winning the coveted ProCard. This would be a chance for Filipe to represent Brazil as a professional athlete in body beauty.

"I had no idea what was waiting for me here. I was used to bodybuilding competitions and here is quite different, I have to worry about facial presentation, physical and stage presence, elegance and charisma. It is very glamorous," said Filipe.

Champion of Brazil and South American championships of bodybuilding, the 27-year-old athlete have been working as a model for ten years in Brazil, and this expertise helped him to also win the best dressed male category.

“My coach showed me this federation precisely because I already have experience as a model. For demanding stage presence and beauty I had to change my preparation, so I did some work to stay with the healthiest face and I think it worked and I am really glad for that.”

The Best Friend:

Best friends since they were 6 years-old, Filipe and Adriano Felix trained together in Brazil, but now, as a resident in Brisbane, Adriano could do more.

He registered Filipe for the event, acted as translator and hosted him in his own home; all for the dream of seeing his best friend succeeding in professional body beauty.

My participation is only host him in my house. I am very happy because he still here 20 days as a guest, we have not seen each other for four years,” explains Adriano Felix.

“He did everything for me. I do not speak English, so he did almost everything for me,

I only prepared my body to the competition and he helped as an executive here. I am glad for that,” thanked Filipe.

Now, strolling in Brisbane for one more week, Filipe Marins has time to enjoy a small break before starting to think about the next goal.

“I am in love with Australia, I have visited amazing places, it is so beautiful. But 28th I have to go back to Brazil and start everything again.”

The next step will be the World Championship in Dubai in August next year.

The preparation will not stop; Filipe Marins is going to show once more, to opponents around the world, that they will have to be careful, because he'll be there to win. ( Good luck Filipe Marins. )
