Brazil secured a one-two finish in the women’s 57kg category. In an all-Brazilian final, Silvana Cardoso won gold by defeating Maria Eduarda Stumpf, who claimed silver.

The other silver medals went to Valter Sedano in the 70kg category, following a loss to Mexico’s Juan Diego García López in the final, and Joel Gomes in the 80kg category, who faced Kazakhstan’s Nurlan Dombayev in the final.

Gustavo Antony Ruppel of Brazil also earned bronze in the 58kg category.

Brazil had its best performance in Paris since the Grand Prix series began. The competition awards athletes who reach the podium up to 60 points in the world rankings. At the first stop, in Rome, Italy, the country won one gold and one silver medal. The Brazilian national team’s next event will be the World Championships, scheduled for November 20–22 in Muju, South Korea. The team will then compete in the fourth and final Grand Prix stage on November 28 in Astana, Kazakhstan.
