Socceroos to play in Belgium

Socceroos will play a friendly match in Belgium on September 4 in its attempt to face important teams, and with the desire to play more high quality games against some of the best national teams in the world.  The move represents good preparation for the next year’s Asian Cup which will be held in Australia.

Belgium announced the friendly match on its official Twitter account on Monday. "We'll be welcoming the Socceroos for a friendly on September 4th ! Prepping for the @UEFAeuro qualifiers. Excited !".

The European side had a strong World Cup, losing 1-0 to eventual finalists Argentina at the quarter-final stage in a keenly contested match. Belgium has reached the number 11 in the list of best national Teams in the world.

Australia is seeking a number of quality international fixtures in the lead-up to January's Asian Cup which will be hosted on the east coast. The Socceroos were eliminated at the group stage in Brazil after three successive losses but generally garnered plaudits with their inexperienced team pushing both Chile and The Netherlands before a 3-0 loss to 2010 champions Spain.

Football Federation Australia has yet to announce the fixture, to be played in Belgium.

Belgium is one of the teams that did a really good work in the World Cup, one of the youngest and also one of the most powerful. Names of great players as Hazard, Lukaku, Fellaini, or the wished goalkeeper all around Europe Thibaut Curtois (best goalkeeper in the Spanish La Liga and one of the most important players in champion Atlético de Madrid) are giving a status to this team and a good season that the group has been lived in and demonstrated in Brazil.
