Real Madrid Transfer News: Latest on Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez's Arrivals

When Real Madrid won the Champions League last season, you’d be forgiven for thinking that the powers that be sat back and said: “Job well done.” Well, they’re always hungry for more success, and they’re looking to use the summer transfer window to make that happen.

Though Carlo Ancelotti has arguably the strongest squad in European football at his disposal, he wants to land a few more big names to give his side footballing immortality, and the capture of Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez are reportedly just around the corner.

A World Cup winner with Germany, Kroos has been the subject of mass transfer speculation of late, with a number of Europe’s finest clubs chasing his signature.

Another player that impressed immensely at the World Cup was Golden Boot winner James Rodriguez, who is also closing in on a move to the Bernabeu - according to Carlos Caprio of Marca. Six goals and some quite remarkable performances put Rodriguez on the radars of Europe’s big boys, but Real Madrid is the only club that the Monaco man is interested in.

As James said: “Playing for Real Madrid is my life's dream: it'd be a privilege to play alongside so many stars. If it happened, I'd enjoy it to the max. It's really flattering to know that a club of Real Madrid's stature is interested in me. It'd be a dream to join the club of my dreams. I have a great deal of respect for other clubs and admire the good football they play, but ultimately Real Madrid are Real Madrid. I've always had a thing for them, like I said before”.

All that’s left is for the club’s latest Galactico to be unveiled under the bright lights of the Bernabeu, but ESPN’s Jonathan Johnson revealed that there’s more to it than that: Though Angel Di Maria was one of Real’s best players last season, seeing him depart makes sense for the Ancelotti system, as having Rodriguez tucked behind Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and KarimBenzema would be the most lethal of lethal attacking lines.

The good news for fans of the Colombian player, is that Paris Saint-Germain have agreed to part with the necessary €60 million for Di Maria that will see Rodriguez’s transfer go through. With all the expectations about what will happen in the coming weeks, it’s safe to say that Real Madrid fans have an exciting season to look forward to.

Remaining champions of Europe will be high on their agenda, but taking back the La Liga crown from bitter rivals Atletico Madrid will be job No. 1, and with Kroos and Rodriguez in their ranks, that’s almost certain to happen.
