NRL's ban to players for betting on matches

The announcement was made on Thursday afternoon after the NRL’s integrity was questioned as some of the players were accused of placing several bets on matches. NRL has always forbidden betting on league fixtures, and although the bets of the players seemed to be small, the NRL was prompt to display a new zero-tolerance policy against betting.

ABC news indicated that amongst the banned players are David Williams, Ethan Lowe, Cody Nelson, Hymel Hunt and Slade Griffin. Their clubs have acknowledged the ban and the sanctions, but have been cautious when commenting to the media as a sign of support to their players
