Motocross or road biking, this adventure is in the veins of Rafael Nunes

Are you keen to do adventure sports? Do you feel excited about being challenged?

Both these criteria can be met doing Motocross, an off-road

motorcycle sport, which promises to leave you with

many great stories to tell your children.

Many people would say that Latin people love extreme sports,

and one of these such people is Rafael Nunes, a Brazilian

student who lives in Brisbane and has practiced motocross

for about 10 years.

Rafael Nunes says: “For me, riding my motorbike is something special. It is when I disconnect myself from the world

outside and nothing else matters but that moment,” 

He has been interested in motorcycling since his childhood and when he was 14 years old, he finally learned how to ride.

Since then, he hasn't stopped riding and competing in many places and

categories. “The roar of any motorcycle drives me crazy.

I cannot explain the feeling,” he says. When he first came to Australia he

thought

he wouldn't be able to keep riding here. However, he discovered it can be even

easier here than in Brazil.

“The good thing here is that prime equipment can be found for a reasonable

price and it makes the sport more accessible for everyone,” he says.

The most popular places to buy equipment are either AMA or Team Moto.

Nevertheless, buying second hand equipment can be worthwhile. One of the best websites to look at is Gumtree. Although it is very

exciting, motocross isn't as easy as it seems to be.

You must have major control of your movements, strength, resistance and great reflexes. You should start slowly and continuously until

you are ready to do a long journey. You should also consider riding in groups for safety. Rafael says he doesn´t want to stop doing

Motocross. “It is a passion. I hope I can do that for many years from now.”
