Latin Heat to Take on the USA Tomahawks

The pride of Latin American rugby league, the Latin Heat, will play their biggest ever match against the formidable USA national team, the

Tomahawks, on October 11^th at Mitchelton Nines, Brisbane. This is going to be an extravaganza of running rugby for spectators; and, as

such, all interested parties are heartily encouraged to come along for an afternoon of terrific sporting entertainment.

The USA has been playing league since 1987 and last year they participated in the World Cup for the first time. The Tomahawks managed

to reach the quarter-finals against Australia with victories against Wales and the Cook Islands and they will be brimming with confidence

on October 11^th. The Heat will have their work cut out for them and a victory will go some way to legitimise League as growing sport

among Latin Americans.

This match is yet more evidence that the team’s administrators are successfully

working towards their stated goals of spreading the game to mainland South

America and the possibility of establishing domestic leagues in Brazil, Argentina and

Columbia. League is an ideal sport for the Latin American market as it favours an

exciting blend of brawn and skilful ball handling. The big match on October 11^th will

be a celebration of sporting comradery, solidarity and outreach. Go the Heat!
