Copa America: Semi-finals defined after some outstanding exhibitions

The fight for the title is completely open between the four teams that won the quarter-finals games on this weekend. Argentina, Colombia, Chile and the United States are the last survivors of this competition that involved 16 national teams, and it is undeniable that it is well deserved considering their performance during the competition.

The first to guarantee the place into the semi-finals were the United States, which defeated Ecuador in a thrilling game. The Seattle idol, Clint Dempsey, was one more time the main player of the American squad, which also had a big support of their fans to get into this historical semi-final stage after 21 years of fasting.

Their next opponent, however, is nothing less than Argentina. Being the strongest team of the continental cup in theory, los hermanos proved why they were considered the favourite since the beginning: the unique team to be 100% and also finally having Lionel Messi ready to play the 90 minutes of the match.

For sure, the best player of the world has been the biggest concern of the American nation since this morning, when the Argentinians beat Venezuela in a convincing presentation. They scored four goals, showing a commendably team work.

In the other side, Chile and Colombia will make the other semi-final, which is going to be completely unpredictable even for the best perceivers. In one hand, the Colombians have been showing a lot of talent since the World Cup of 2014, with a team that remained almost the same since then.

However, it is also true that they have been struggling because of inconstant presentations in Copa America. In the other hand, the Chileans were not that trendy despite the last title of 2015, but also showed some outstanding exhibition and smashed Mexico by a score of 7 to 0 in the quarterfinals and are now confident for the next game.

Colombia lost to Costa Rica to end group play, and it needed penalties to get past Peru in the quarterfinal. After the shocking defeat against Mexico, the Chileans are trending in the opposite direction, which could land the Chileans in the Copa America final for the second straight year.

With a lot of good games in this eliminatory stage, the unique assurance is that more exciting matches are about to come. Impossible, however, is to predict who of those teams are going to lift the trophy.
