Studying English and Surfing in Gold Coast

Many students choose Australia when they decide to study abroad, attracted by the opportunity of improving the English combined with surfing during the free time. Known around the world as a surf paradise, Australia can provide many good moments with perfect waves, in a friendly environment and safe places.

André Pássaro, a Portuguese student, has recently moved to Gold Coast to be closer to the beach. “I used to live in Brisbane and spend my whole weekend in Gold Coast to surf. Now it is easier and I can surf almost every day”, he says. André had been working as surf instructor in Portugal, before coming to Australia, and when he decides to live abroad, good places to surf was something essential in his choice. He enjoys surfing at South Straddiebroke Island, Nobbys, Currumbin and Burleigh Heads are the best places to surf in Australia.

Bruno Nunes, a Brazilian student, feels the same about his choice. “Surfing is not just about the exercise. It is more about the contact to the nature, and your respect for it. I feel in peace, excitement and challenged at the same time when I am surfing”, he says.

• Try to surf early morning, before the wind starts picking up;

• Thick and large surfboard for having more stability;

• Don´t be anxious, you must give time to yourself to learn;

• Never forget the sunscreen lotion;

• Be persistent.
