The Brazilian Soccer player Henrique from Brisbane Roar got his Certificate of Australian Citizenship

The Slippery Fish made his Pledge of Commitment and was presented with his certificate of Australian Citizenship at a special ceremony at Brisbane's City Hall.

Henrique received the loudest roar of the night as he walked to the stage to be congratulated by Brisbane Lord Mayor, Councillor Graham Quirk.

"This means a lot for myself and family," said Henrique, a Brazilian who joined Brisbane Roar FC in 2009.

"Australia for us is now our second home. Brisbane is a perfect place for us to live.

"The culture suits us very well. The people here are very relaxed and they have all supported us so well. We feel so very privileged."

Brisbane Roar FC interim chief executive David Pourre expressed his good wishes to Henrique on behalf of the entire Roar family.

"This is a memorable day for Henrique and his family," Pourre said.

"Henrique has bought so much joy and culture to BRFC over the years.

"His commitment to the club and country is unwavering and we are very proud and honoured for Henrique to receive his Australian citizenship."

The 30-year-old Henrique (in action below) has scored 31 goals in 112 games for the Roar.

He is currently recovering after a knee reconstruction earlier this year.

"I am close to 100 per cent but I have to wait a couple more weeks to give me the opportunity to do all the right things, prepare really well and when I come back I will be ready to go," Henrique said.

"I have a good bunch of people around me who are supporting me and making sure I do everything I need to do."

Henrique says it will be the same speedy Slippery Fish with a sharp eye for goals when he eventually gets back on the field.

"I will continue to do the same things and approach each game the same way as I did before," Henrique said.

"The only difference is that now I am Australian – and that feels good."
