Brisbane held the 23rd edition of its international running Brisbane Marathon festival

Brisbane has held a new edition of the Brisbane Marathon this Sunday over 42,195 km around the city in a really big party for runners, sport lovers and Brisbanites . With more than 500 participants enrolled and from more than 40 different countries, the race has delivered health, smiles and happiness to all the citizens and runners through the route.

The race, which presented different distances like 2,2km for kids, 5, 10 or a half marathon of 21 km besides the whole one, was also supporting a charity cause. The official charity for the Brisbane Marathon Festival 2014 was Leukaemia Foundation Queensland.

Celebrating the 23rd year in 2014, the Brisbane Marathon is one of the oldest events on the Australian calendar. The event celebrates fun fitness and the ultimate human endurance test, the Marathon. The Brisbane Marathon Festival is a world class event attracting participants from around the world eager to visit Brisbane city.

The winner in this 23rd edition of Brisbane's Marathon was Clay Dawson with a time of 2:30:43, followed by Moritz Auf Der Heide clocking 2:37:30, and with runner Scott Brittain in third position and 2:43:48 time.

In women's category, the first woman has been Roxie Fraser completing the 42,195 km long in 02:54:35, ninth best runner in the global result. In second position finished Hanna Fothergill with a time of 03:05:26, and Trish Rusell completed the “podium” in 03:11:56.

But the real winners were all the contestants who were able to cross de goal, and all the beneficiaries getting the charity in the fight against Leaukaemia.
