Brazil and Uruguay say goodbye to Copa America and the eliminatory round begins on Friday

It is hard to believe, but two of the most traditional teams of South America are now out of the continental competition. Both Brazil and Uruguay suffered with a lack of its main players and showed, after presenting some inconstant moments during the matches, how vulnerable and dependent they are of their biggest stars. While Neymar had to choose to play in the Olympic Games rather than joining the Brazilian squad in Copa America as an agreement made with Barcelona, Suarez tried in vain to get over an injury that left him out of the field during the whole competition.

The group D games will happen on this Wednesday, setting the last qualified teams that will advance to the eliminatory round. For now, the quarterfinals already have two games defined: United States x Ecuador and Peru x Colombia.

As Argentina is the unique team that is 100% on the competition is almost certain that it will face Venezuela, which classified after being in the second position of Group B. In the other side, Mexico waits for the game between Chile and Panama, defining who get the last passage for the next round.

Playing at home, the United States are going to open the quarterfinals against Ecuador in a game that certainly will draw the attention of many soccer fans around the country. Supported by the crowd, the north-Americans could be a good candidate for being the champion of this competition that already had a lot of surprises.

However, some good teams such as Argentina and Colombia have consistent squads that have been playing together for a while and definitely might not be forgotten when guessing about the winner. Being the current champion of the continental competition, Chile is still alive and defines its future tomorrow.

Even though this special edition of Copa America already had some big surprises, the most exciting part is just starting now. From now on, the centenary edition will give the football lovers some good exhibitions for sure and the battle for the continent trophy is still opened!
