Argentina VS Netherlands: A tight game with only one winner

Today’s game was the scenario for two teams to display a series of attacks and defence tactics that left no room to manoeuvre towards the goal for the whole game, which lead to extra time. During this time addition, things weren’t any different.

Opinions from sport commentators and fans on social media were divided. Some prized the performance of Argentina as it typified their commitment with World Cup cause. Others, remembered the 1998 World Cup, when the Netherlands Beat Argentina (2-1) in the Quarter Finals.

Mikael Silvestre, former player and title winner of the English Premier League, indicated on Twiter: “… Argentina has improved as a team, especially in defence, while the Netherlands look like depending on Super Robben and might lack experience at the back,”

After the 30 minutes of extra time were over, the chances to score that crucial goal seemed to get more difficult, but it was Argentina who scored the craved goals to set the difference after going for penalties. The move left Netherlands out of the World Cup winner titles and placed the South American team on step closer to the World Cup when they scored 4-2 with penalty shoots.
