Beyonce and Jay Z tour ‘at risk as marriage implodes’

Jay Z, Beyonce, concert promoter Live Nation, HBO and no less than four lawyers have attended an emergency meeting to address the couple’s rapidly imploding marriage. But while executives at the Thursday session wanted to put out a statement, Jay Z and Beyonce declined ­because they couldn’t agree on what it would say.

It seems that the $US100 million couple’s On the Run Tour might be cancelled before its scheduled finale. “This may not make it to San Francisco. I’m definitely not sure that they’ll make it to Paris” a source said.

The tour, which is promoted by Live Nation, was in LA this weekend and was to arrive in San Francisco for two shows beginning Monday. The finale is scheduled for Paris in September.

HBO, meanwhile, plans to broadcast a major special on the tour in September. There are lawyers that have now joined the tour, and they’re not here just to see them perform. They are here to help calm things out.

Newspapers first reported that the power couple’s marriage was on the rocks and that Beyonce was on a search for her own apartment. Live Nation and HBO wanted the meeting before the whole thing became a public relations nightmare, as HBO cameras have captured much of the performances and the network plans a major special in September.

It’s gotten so bad that the couple, who married in 2008, is living separate lives even on the tour. “They’re not just staying in different hotel rooms, but they have booked separate hotels, and they arrive separately to each show,” an ­insider said.

On stage and online, however, the stars have been playing the loving couple, with Jay Z snuggling Beyonce during a show on Wednesday night in Seattle. Sources said that one of the problems in the marriage was Jay Z’s controlling nature.

It’s estimated that Jay Z has a net worth of more than $US550 million and Beyonce about $US300 million. It is still unclear who would get what in a divorce as is well known, there’s no pre nuptial agreement.
