For all of those who miss being around with nature or want to switch off from the hustle and bust of the big city, Brisbane offers many options to go hiking.

Gringo Media has enlist places around that do not require so much experience and can be a fresh day trip.

1. Elabana and Box Log  Falls in Lamington National Park.

Located about 110 km or 2 hours drive south of Brisbane, the Lamington National Park has two of the most photographed waterfalls. To get across and view Elabana Falls, a short run followed by a walk across the rocks is required, but well worth it. Box Log Falls is in a short distance from Elabana and it is hidden inside a dark canyon.

Endurance: 10.9km return, allow 5 hours.

2. Morans Falls and Python Rock Walks in Lamington

In another section of Lamington National Park is the Green Mountains, with an easy walk of about 1km from the O’Reilly’s car park at the end of the road. In the walk to Moran’s Falls it is possible to have a great view from the waterfall and from a little distance down from the viewing platform you can walk to the head of the falls.

Endurance: 6.2km return, allow 2 hours (Morans)

4.9km return, allow about 1.5 hours (Python Rock)

3. Caves Circuit in Lamington

The rock formations on the track to Caves Circuit were built by the Mt Warning volcano. This circuit has a range of attractions, from beautiful rainforest to amazing lookouts across the Coomera River.

Endurance: 5km return, allow 2-3 hours

4. Lower Bellbird circuit in Lamigton

This walk offers great views of Egg Rock, Turtle Rock and the valleys looking towards Numinbah. In spring, the forest is filled with beautiful native flowers of all types and with the sounds of many animals that inhabit the forest.

Endurance: 12km return, allow 4 hours

5. Mt Cordeaux and Bare Rock at Main Range

Most of the walk in Mt Cordeaux is easy and you will be able to take a look of the Main Range National Park, Moogerah Pearks, Mt Barney and the Mistake Mountains. The lookout of Mt Cordeaux offers one of the best views across the Scenic Rim and on a clear day, you can see Ipswich and Brisbane and the Moogerah Peaks. In spring, it is possible to find amazing red flowers in the Giant Spear Lilies.

Endurance: 13km return, allow 4.5 hours

6. Mt Mitchell at Main Range

This volcanic peak is known as Cooyinnirra to the local Aboriginal people and the walk to the top culminate in place with an exceptional panoramic view across the Scenic Rim.

Endurance: 10.2km return, allow 3 hours

7. Queen Mary Falls Circuit at Main Range

At the lookout, you should admire Spring Creek over the cliff  known as Queen Mary Falls, one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the Great South East. It is important to catch for the numerous kookaburras that inhabit the trees.

Endurance: 2km return, allow 40 minutes

8. Lower Portals walk in Mt Barney National Park

In the warmer months, this place can offer an excellent swimming location where water passes through a gorge. There is a short climb through a small gap to get to the palce. A National Parks campsite can be found nearby.
