Women's situation in south America.

 All of us represent Latin America through Copa Cabana beach, in Brazil, during our holidays, or even in the movies or books; but it's not just restricted at this side of.

Women's conditions are every day a fight to win a war or even a round, which seem already lost without exterior help.

But,

who feels really concerned about a problem which is not one anymore in the most part of the world? Abortion and contraception are now institutionalized in our customs, but it's a real struggle for these persons, who are ruled by a large influence of Catholic Church, where legislations are mostly dated since XIX e century (it shows how population is not listened).

So scientific progress and strong religion can't apparently work together; one triumphs on another.

Abortion priority is about sexual violence, which women are daily suffering. Some countries allow abortion, only if it's a rape, or if mother or child health is concerned (even though difficult accessible, administratively). And other, as El Salvador, doesn't want to hear something about it, where it's completely forbidden, subject to sanctions as jail (as 40 years maximum, for example, in El Salvador). In that case, women use clandestine abortions way. 3, 5 million use it, 2 million get irreversible sequelae, and 17% die. In other words, for the "right to life" benefit, they risk to die. Ironical skepticism.

Some international people know these conditions, other not, but with what is just happened, every one now should be aware of the situation: Zika virus. It's the Aedes Aegyptus mosquito, which could be the cause of microcephaly on children (brain diseases).

That's why abortion file has been open again: OMS - ONU - Amnesty International express themselves (OMS: "public health urgency of international concern", 2 Feb. 2016), thanks to or because of, virus. Who are exactly concerned? 1,5 million persons, 404 babies with microcephaly, 3670 other suspects cases.

Measures were applied in countries which are the most concerning (Latin America), where certain are more effective than other: more rules for blood donation, or "avoid becoming pregnant" (seriously?). For real measure, ONU proposed to open again the abortion and contraception right.

We can now have a global view on Latin America's situation. Should have we to thank Zika? When is going to be beaten, what's going to happen for abortion? Could Catholic accept scientific progress, at the cost of thousands women life?
