Whale season coming to Queensland!

 If you are new in Brisbane, or you have been living here for a while, but haven’t had the chance to see a whale, don’t worry the Whale Season is beginning.

Every year from June to November, Queensland becomes the Humpback Whales’ home. Travelling 10,000 km annually from the Antarctic for a babymoon, while enjoying the warmer ocean, the baby calves are born. Tourist and citizens love to watch the Mummy Whales teaching their babies life skills that are essential for them in the cooler Antarctic water. 

With prices vary between $39 to $139  -  it depends on which tour you want - the ride is accessible for everyone. Some of them offer food and drinks in the boat, transport from Brisbane to the coast, or other ones only the cruise experience. However, we suggest that you subscribe to Groupon or Scoopon so you won’t miss any discounts.

Here are 7 good places to appreciate this amazing opportunity in Queensland:

1. Hervey Bay, Fraser Coast.  There are close to 7,000 Humpback whales resting and playing in the bay’s calm and safe waters - definitely a dream experience. Best months to go: August – October

2.Gold Coast. This place is the first to welcome the Humpback, and yet the best one to watch them at the end of the season, as they make their way back to Antarctica.  Best months to go: August – September

3. Moreton Bay Marine Park. As they are making their way up the Coast, they pass near North Stradbroke and Moreton Island, makingthem perfect lookouts possible. The only thing you need to appreciate it clearly are some binoculars for a closer view.  Best months to go: September – November

4. Sunshine Coast. If you are the adventurous kind of person you certainly should have a swim with the Humpback whales. Yes, you can do it with Mooloolaba and Sunreef Scuba Diving Services. Best month to go: October

5. Great Barrier Reef. It’s another possibility to be near from the whales. If you go are planning to go to Great Barrier Reef during this season (June to November) you must be alert, because you don’t know when a whale is going to be curious and wants to say hello

6. Whitsundays. They say that The Whitsundays is on the bucket list for many of us, but imagine if you could fall asleep for an overnight sailing adventure meanwhile you listen to whales singing to each other.  Best time to go: July – September

7. Tropical North Queensland. You will not only find Humpback whales, but also Dwarf Minke whales come during this season, especially during June and July so those are the best months to go.
