Transforming Queensland Manufacturing Grant helps Brisbane business soar to new heights

• Brisbane towbar manufacturer secures Transforming Queensland Manufacturing Grant to take their business to new levels.
• 18 manufacturers awarded grants from $12.5 million first round pool, with 7 based in south east Queensland.

A Brisbane-based manufacturer of towbars will transform its business through the Crisafulli Government’s new Transforming Queensland Manufacturing Grants Program (TQMGP). 

Speedy Towbars Group designs, fabricates, assembles and fits compliant towing products for passenger and light commercial vehicles for clients around the country. 

The company will use a grant of more than $266,000 to install a robotic welding machine, plasma cutting system and a testing machine to lift capacity, quality consistency and national competitiveness. 

The project is expected to create 12 new jobs and lead to the upskilling of its entire workforce.   

It’s just one of the ways the Crisafulli Government is delivering more jobs and better services through a stronger economy after a decade of decline under Labor.   

Minister for Manufacturing Dale Last said 18 companies have been successful in securing a share of the $12.5m on offer as part of the first round of TQMGP, with 7 based in south east Queensland. 

“To have 119 companies apply for the first round is a vote of confidence in our vision to supercharge innovation, lift productivity, support export opportunities and create good, secure jobs right across Queensland,” Minister Last said. 

“The 18 grant recipients represent the variety of Queensland’s manufacturing sector from food and beverage producers to skin care manufacturers, and suppliers to construction, resource and medical companies. 

“Importantly, the successful projects are expected to create more than 300 new jobs and lead to the upskilling of more than 550 existing workers. 

“Speedy Towbars is a perfect example of Queensland manufacturing excellence and know-how making a mark right around the country, and I am pleased this grant will help them invest in new technology, lift production and continue growing their Queensland operations.”  

Speedy Towbars Group Co-owner Jordan Rand said the grant would position the company for long-term growth while continuing to manufacture high-quality products in Queensland. 

“Our customers rely on us to deliver high-quality towing products, and this investment will help us continue to meet those expectations as demand grows,” Mr Rand said. 

“Securing this grant will allow us to make a significant investment in advanced manufacturing technology that will improve our productivity, increase capacity, and enhance the quality and consistency of our products.
