Three Day Preparation for the Australian Citizenship test

I was invited to sit the Citizenship test in Brisbane on Tuesday, 26 October 2021 at 10:30 am.

This article will explain how I studied for three days before the test and got a 100% mark.

I started by going to the Home Affairs website to find out more about the test which consists of 20 multiple choice questions, you need to answer all 5 of the Australian values questions correctly and get a mark of at least 75% overall.

I found three ways you can study:

1. READ the booklet called “Australian Citizenship: Our Common Bond” which has all the information you need to prepare for the citizenship test.

2. LISTEN to the “Our common bond” Podcast which basically contains the information in the booklet.

3. DO the practice test on the Immigration’s website and apps.

Here is how I prepared:

Day 1: I went for a coastal walk and listened to the podcast and attempted to do the Practice Test on the website. Downloaded an app on my phone to practice different questions from the website.

Day 2: I memorized the eight Australian Values and attempted to do the Practice Test for the second time on the website and on the app I downloaded.

Day 3: I read the booklet and listened to the Australian Values chapter in the Podcast, I then asked friends to ask me anything from the booklet and practice the tests until I got 100%.

The day has come, and I have all my documentation ready and fresh knowledge in my mind so I’m feeling confident. I arrived at 9:50pm and the security guard said that you are allowed to enter the office only 20 minutes before the appointment, so I had a coffee next door. When I came back it was 10:10am. I saw the repetitive numbers 10:10 and took this as a positive affirmation. I believe in messages from the Universe. All my documentation was in order and the test took only a few minutes as I was very well prepared. The questions were very similar to the one on the website in the Practice Test.

The Immigration officer gave me a paper saying that I successfully passed the test, and I was told to wait for my local council to invite me to the ceremony to make the pledge and make it official. Looking back to when I landed in Australia in 2015 from Colombia, I am very happy and proud to be where I am today. The sky's the limit.
