Financials Requirements -  The values for proof of income increased compared to what it was before, but will also be offered new alternatives for confirmation. With the new method, though the value has increased, immigration introduced a new way of confirmation, through access to income, which implies the evidence of availability at a higher annual payment of AUD 60,000.00.

In this case, they are accepted as support only from parents or spouses documents. If it is not possible to prove that access to annual income, the option remains to be proof enough disposable income. The value that the student must prove to have immediate redemption account will be AUD 1,652.50 per month of stay or AUD 19,830.00 per year.

Extinction of subclasses –There are currently 7 student visa subclasses, which depends on the type of course you are completing - school, English language, vocational education, higher education or PhD.  These will be replaced by a single subclass 500 visa.

This will mean criteria will be more straightforward to understand for applicants, and applications will be lodged online in most cases.

For students who already have a valid visa subclass 570-576 remain the same usually migrating to the new class until the next renewal.

Onshore Lodgement for All Students - Under the current legislation, it is only possible to apply for a student visa application from within Australia where you currently hold a student visa; oryou are at the lowest risk level.

Now will be possible to apply for a student visa providing you hold a substantive visa. This will make it much easier the transition onto a student visa from a working holiday, Graduate Temporary Subclass 485 visa, Partner Visa or even a visitor visa without needing to depart Australia.

Online requests - All visa protocols will become online, including for students of vocational courses and language studies, which used be conducted on paper. Even with this change, all protocols will still be assessed by the Embassy in Brasilia.

New evaluation standards – Since July, a new single risk framework applies to all international students and replace the current levels used in the assessment. The risk is defined by a combination of factors, the student's home country and the school of choice in Australia.

All educational institutions will be evaluated and scored by the Australian government. Thus, students who are accepted by the institutions that have the best grades will, in principle, to demonstrate less documentary evidence of financial resources and proficiency in English. In this mode, students with lower risk now have the process facilitated requiring less supporting documents.

The changes are designed to make the student visa simpler to navigate for genuine students, deliver a more targeted approach to immigration integrity and create a level playing field for all education providers.According the Department of Immigration, the main purpose to adopt these rules is to become a reference when the subject is teaching excellence.
