Everyday Foundation upgrades open to serve Sunshine Coast

Affordable groceries are now a reality for more vulnerable locals on the Sunshine Coast with the opening of an expanded low-cost food outlet in Nambour, following a $1 million expansion funded by the Crisafulli Government.

The expansion builds on the Foundation’s outstanding service which had more than 45,000 customer visits to the low-cost food outlet in the last year, while supporting almost 3,000 people through the Everyday Foundation’s Emergency Relief program and distributing 33,000 free meals.

It’s part of the Crisafulli Government’s commitment to deliver cost of living relief Queenslanders can rely on, whether partnering with social enterprises like the Everyday Foundation, of driving down everyday costs for Queenslanders.

The former Labor Government left Queenslanders with the most expensive water bills in the country after their decade of decline, and saw power prices rise by 19.9% in a single year.

The Crisafulli Government’s 2026-27 Budget delivered the largest ongoing cost of living relief package in Queensland’s history, with the Back to School Boost, Play On! and freeze of bulk water prices, and the Energy Roadmap Price Drop.

Treasurer, Minister for Energy and Minister for Home Ownership David Janetzki said this funding complemented the Crisafulli Government’s $20 million annual investment through the Social Entrepreneurs Fund to achieve better outcomes for vulnerable Queenslanders.

“Queensland is investing directly into social enterprises, partnering with organisations who are making a genuine difference on the ground in our communities,” Treasurer Janetzki said.

“The Everyday Foundation is the embodiment of when the right backing meets the right idea, social impact happens."

Member for Nicklin Marty Hunt said the Crisafulli Government’s support delivered real outcomes for regional Queenslanders.

“The Everyday Foundation does an incredible job supporting local people and families who are doing it tough, particularly as cost-of-living pressures continue to bite,” Mr Hunt said.

“I’m proud to be part of the Government that has helped make this new community supermarket a reality, providing practical, dignified support for people when they need it most.

“This is a great example of government working alongside trusted local organisations that know their community, understand where the need is, and make every dollar count.”

The Everyday Foundation Director Jonathan Gullo said this incredible milestone was only the beginning of the foundation’s next chapter on the Sunshine Coast.

“The Everyday Foundation has been serving this community for more than 20 years, and this building means we finally have the room to grow alongside the increasing need for food relief on the Sunshine Coast,” Mr Gullo said.

“We would like to thank the Crisafulli Government for their generous $1 million contribution to this project. It's an investment that will support this community for decades to come.

The Everyday Foundation General Manager Karen Gullo said the building would impact many lives on the Sunshine Coast.

“It has always been our mission to ensure the people we support know they are not facing their problems alone and this building will help us do this on a bigger scale,” Ms Gullo said.

“We are so grateful to everyone who has gotten behind this project, from our donors and funders to the volunteers who show up week after week.

“This building belongs to this community as much as it belongs to us."
