EKKA is coming and Brisbane gets ready

Ekka preparation is on the move, with cattle moving in over the week and getting everything ready for the parades and the cattle competitions, whilst the RNA showgrounds are getting set for the colour and excitement of this fair which will offer performances, art displays and more.

The Royal Queensland Show, or Ekka as it is most commonly known, is Queensland's largest annual event and this year promises over 350 showbags and a variety of performances and exhibitors. The twist this year is a night entertainment program: EkkaNites, which will feature lasers, water fountains and fireworks in a world-class show.

The whole event will take off on the 8^th of August, with the 13^th declared as a Public Holiday, so students can have a whole day to indulge in the flavours and colours of this popular celebration, which will be held for 2 weeks and will attract visitors from different regions to Brisbane.

The city is currently preparing for the load of tourists that will arrive next week, with expected full occupancy in most hotels in the CBD and higher demand on public transport. In the meantime, the Sideshow Alley transformation continues with the rides and showbag stands going up at the RNA showgrounds.
