Couples celebrate Brazilian Valentine's Day

There are many Brazilians living in Australia and among of them some couples. Some met each other in Brazil and others in Australia. All around the world Valentine's Day is celebrated on February 14, but in Brazil there is one more special day for lovers: June 12, which is Antonio´s Saint, known by the fame of "matchmaker".
How this is a commemorative date only in Brazil, here there is no movement in bars, restaurants and shops to make the June 12 special for Brazilian couples, so we talked to some of them to check what ideas they have to swerve this cultural issue and make an ordinary day for Australians remains a special day for Brazilian couples celebrating the day away from home.
he couple Michele Alvarenga and Lucas Ambrosio had met in Brazil and had begun dating six months before he came.
They had a long distance relationship for more than one year until Michele came to Australia too.
Today, together about 2 years and 5 months, their are planning a dinner. " Maybe we will get engaged on Valentine's Day ...
we go to Brisbane Jazz Club for a dinner and listen a good music" said Michele.
They are planning the wedding in Brazil at the end of the year, that is, someone may get an engagement ring as Valentine's Day gift!
The couple Maria Carolina Schlapak and Luiz Oliveira had started the relationship in Brazil and decided to come to Australia together.
They are together for 8 months and this will be the first Brazilian Valentine´s day for them.
To celebrate, they picked a romantic weekend in Moreton Island and also an exchange of gifts.
Different of the first and second, Claudia Portella and Levy Pereira met each other in Australian territory and have been together for 2 years and 8 months.
They said they do not celebrate Valentine's day because it is also the Levy´s birthday, then they celebrate the Valentine´s day always in June.
To celebrate they always opt for restaurants and tours and also the exchange of gifts. For this year, the gift was chosen by both and they decided to buy tickets to the Cirque du Soleil.
"We always end up opting for giving us gifts that can remind us anything we can do together," said Claudia.
No matter if you are in a different country, there is always a way to celebrate love!Happy Valentine´s Day for all Brazilians couples.
