CCC Chairman set to Continue Reign Despite Ongoing Investigation

Despite still being under investigation by the police and his thinly veiled connection to the Queensland Government, Dr Ken Levy will remain in his position as Chairman of the Crime is Corruption Commission past his end of term date.

Dr levy was due to finish his term as head of the CCC last Friday will hold his position following a rejection of the Government's preferred candidate for his replacement.

The parliamentary committee rejected barrister Paul Favell without explanation, whilst Opposition Leader Annastacia Palaszczuk has maintained that this is a purposeful move to keep a close ally in a place of authority up until election day.

Dr Levy is being investigated in regards to claims that he may have lied to the Parliamentary Committee for crime and Corruption about his contact with government before he penned and published a piece in support of the new Federal anti-bikie legislation.

Attourney-General Jarrod Beijie has assured the public and fellow political members that the position will be readvertised, and Premier Campbell Newman has called on the PCCC to advise why Mr Favell, a man of “impeccable character and professional standing”, was rejected.

Peter Wellington, an Independent MP has spoken out about the appointment process, saying Premier Newman politicised the issue through public comments made about Mr Favell.
