After spending 2013 carefully researching (read: shopping!) I have put together a list of my favourite tried and tested independent fashion boutiques that are guaranteed excellent customer service, selection of labels and all-round fashion inspiration. Including a little map for each to get you there!

1. Jules & Roc – Fortitude Valley – Google Map

Jules & Roc have an awesome selection of labels, and I find something every time I go in there. Stocking labels such as; Ellery, Maurie & Eve, Alice McCall, Camilla and Marc, Bec & Bridge, Peep-Toe and loads more!

2. Beau in the Woods – Fortitude Valley – Google Map

The Beau in the Woods concept boutique on James St stocks, of course, their eponymous fashion label, and a hand-picked selection of Australian and International labels. I love the selection of jewellery and candles!

3. Shugah Boutique – Cannon Hill – Google Map

Shugah stocks on-season looks and colours at super affordable prices, so you can buy something new every weekend!

4. Adore Boutique – Tarragindi – Google Map

With labels like Shakuhachi, House of Harlow and Finders Keepers, Adore Boutique is a suburbian dream!

5. Alexis Dawn – Fortitude Valley – Google Map

I can’t go past Alexis Dawn’s own label for fantastic monochrome basics.

6. Sunday Social – Fortitude Valley – Google Map

Sunday Social is one of my favourites in Winn Lane, they have a precisely curated selection of vintage and rare clothing, shoes, bags and jewellery, as well as other fantastic knick-knacks. There is always something new to hunt for and it’s so easy to spend hours scouring the racks and examining each unique piece.  The quality of the vintage items is second to none.

7. Blonde Venus – Fortitude Valley – Google Map

Seriously a Brisbane institution. Blonde Venus owner and buyer Thea has truly been a part of building Brisbane’s fashion identity and if you need any convincing read her story here. And whilst the boutique has been responsible for introducing us to a huge array of Australian and International labels over the years; they are currently stocking – Antipodium, 1989, Clare Vivier, Christopher Esber and more.

8. Calexico – Fortitude Valley – Google Map

A relative new-comer to the James Street Precinct, Calexico boasts amazing Australian and International labels such as ALC, AG Jeans, ACNE and Isabel Marant. And I am absolutely in LOVE with their blog, currently taking you behind the scenes on their buyers New York fashion buying trip!

9. Kylie Ryan – Coorparoo – Google Map

A south-side gem, Kylie Ryan stocks a fantastic array of women’s clothing, shoes and handbags. All of the pieces are unique and exotic ensuring you won’t turn up to a party looking like anyone but your fabulous self!

10. Denim Co. – South Bank – Google Map

Fashion and food… two of my favourite things! Denim Co is a fashion boutique with a coffee shop out the front, the labels are sensational and the coffee even better. They have the best selection of J Brand jeans in Brisbane and their buyer and Stylist Soph is fabulous and always up for a chat!
