A 36-year-old Brazilian woman has been detained in Bali after police and customs officers allegedly discovered liquid cocaine concealed in seven bottles of shampoo and personal-care products inside her suitcase.

The woman, identified publicly only by the initials TCDS, was arrested at the international arrivals terminal of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport on 6 October 2026, at approximately 6pm local time.

According to Indonesian National Police, the seized material had a gross weight of 3,659.9 grams, or approximately 3.6 kilograms. That figure is the reported gross weight, rather than a confirmed quantity of pure cocaine. Indonesian National Police

Police allege US$50,000 payment offer

In a statement released on 12 October, Bali police said the woman told investigators she had been recruited by someone identified as “G” to deliver the drugs to a contact in Bali.

Police allege she was promised US$50,000 if the delivery succeeded. Authorities also said her travel had been fully funded, including a flight departing Brazil on 5 October and a return journey scheduled for 3 November 2026.

Officers reportedly became suspicious of her luggage and conducted a joint inspection involving Ngurah Rai Customs and Bali’s narcotics investigation directorate. Police said they seized seven bottles containing suspected liquid cocaine, her suitcase, travel tickets and identity documents.

Possible penalties if convicted

Police said investigators are proceeding under Articles 609(2) and 610(2) of Indonesia’s Criminal Code, concerning possession and importation of narcotics. tribratanews.bali.polri.go.id

Under Article 610(2)(a), as amended in 2026, unlawful importation of more than five grams of non-plant Class I narcotics can carry a prison term of up to 20 years, life imprisonment or the death penalty. Financial penalties may also apply.

The death penalty is not automatic. Any sentence would depend on the offences established in court and the circumstances considered by the judges. perpajakan.ddtc.co.id

Investigation continues

Authorities say they are investigating the alleged supply network and intended recipients. The latest official reports reviewed describe the woman as detained at Bali Regional Police headquarters while legal proceedings continue. No conviction or sentence was identified in those reports. Her full name, occupation and place of residence have not been established in the sources reviewed. Although police describe travel from Brazil with a planned return there, those arrangements alone do not confirm where she lived. Portal Gringo News found no verified Australian connection.
