Brazilian Police end the search for the missing Australian backpacker

The Brazilian Police ended the search for the missing Australian backpacker Rye Hunt on this Monday, 6th June. According to the delegate Elen Souto, from DPA (Precinct whereabouts of Discovery), the police is convicted that the man could not exit the island.

The police said that is a protocol of the Navy and the Fire Department shut down the search after 72 hours of work. They began on Wednesday, near the Rasa Island, where the fisherman had reported seeing a body, but nothing was found. Rye was seen for the last time on 22, it has been more than 10 days.

On Monday, Michael Wholdhan the boy's uncle went to the laboratory of the Institute of Expertise and Research Forensic Genetics, the ACADEPOL in Lapa. A sample of his DNA was collected for future genetic comparison. According to the police, this is a usual process. The sample will be recorded in the system, along with other DNA samples taken from the Australian’s toothbrush and clothes. If any body appear this material can be used for identification.

Police also returned to the family his belongings that were found in the apartment in Copacabana, which Rye had rented for a holiday. The family of the guy said that they still hoping to find the Australian alive.
