  • The upgrade has delivered improved traffic signals, turning lanes and safer facilities for people crossing the intersection.
  • Motorists are now benefitting from safer and more efficient traffic movements through the busy local intersection.
  • The Crisafulli Government is delivering practical road improvements across regional Queensland to help Queenslanders get home safer and sooner after a decade of neglect under the former Labor Government.

The Crisafulli Government has delivered a major safety boost for Gatton, with improvements now completed at the Spencer Street and William Street intersection.

The upgrade has delivered improved traffic signals, a new dedicated right-turn lane, extensions to existing right-turn lanes and improved facilities for people crossing the intersection, delivering safer and more efficient traffic movements through the heart of Gatton.

After a decade of decline under Labor, regional communities were too often left waiting for the practical road improvements needed to improve safety and keep pace with growing populations and busier roads.

The Crisafulli Government is getting on with the job and investing in safer roads across regional Queensland.

The project was delivered through the Crisafulli Government's Targeted Road Safety Program, which funds targeted and cost-effective improvements to make Queensland's road network safer.

Minister for Transport and Main Roads Brent Mickelberg said the completed upgrade would make everyday journeys safer for the Gatton community.

"Whether you're heading to work, dropping the kids at school, running a local business or simply getting around town, Queenslanders deserve roads and intersections that are safe and fit for purpose," Minister Mickelberg said.

"We've delivered practical improvements at this busy Gatton intersection that will improve traffic movements, reduce risks and help Queenslanders get home safer and sooner.

"For too long, regional communities were forced to wait for important road safety improvements under the former Labor Government, but the Crisafulli Government is getting on with the job and delivering the infrastructure regional Queensland deserves.

"This is what investing in our regions looks like, practical projects that make a real difference to people's everyday journeys."

Member for Lockyer Jim McDonald said completion of the project was a great result for the Gatton community.

"This is a busy intersection used every day by locals, families and businesses, so delivering these improvements is a real win for Gatton," Mr McDonald said.

"The new turning arrangements and upgraded signals will make it safer and easier to get through the intersection and improve everyday journeys around town.

"Our community deserves infrastructure that keeps pace with its needs, and the Crisafulli Government is delivering practical investments that make our local roads safer.

"This is about listening to regional communities, delivering the upgrades that matter and making sure more locals get home safer and sooner.

“We thank everyone for their patience on the road during the upgrades.”
