Back to School Boost delivers relief for Queensland families as Term 3 concludes

• Crisafulli Government’s Back to School Boost provides cost of living relief for every primary school student in Queensland. 
• Parents and carers are using the $100 annual credit to ease cost of school supplies including uniforms, stationery and extracurricular activities.
• 50 per cent increase to the Back to School Boost to $150 from next January and unused credit can be rolled over into 2027.
• The Crisafulli Government is delivering more relief you can rely on, with an increased $150 Back to School Boost for every primary school student starting January 2027. 

The Crisafulli Government is delivering better services through a stronger economy and relief you can rely on, with more than $21.5 million in Back to School Boost funding provided to primary State school students across Queensland so far this year. 
 
As Term 3 concludes today, parents and carers have accessed the $100 credit for school-related expenses throughout the year including uniforms, stationery and excursions, while more than $15.4 million has been allocated to families at non-State schools. 
 
The Crisafulli Government is further strengthening the Back to School Boost plan, with the annual contribution set to increase by 50 per cent to $150 for every primary school student, to further ease education costs for Queensland families when the 2027 school year begins. 
 
Families who are yet to utilise the credit can still have it processed in Term 4, or it can rolled over into next year.  
 
Minister for Education and the Arts John-Paul Langbroek said the Crisafulli Government was proud to deliver the Back to School Boost for Queensland families, during the cost of living crunch. 
 
“Our plan will deliver nearly $330 million over five years to reduce school-related costs,” Minister Langbroek said. 

 
“Every bit of financial assistance can make a big difference, and our targeted funding is putting money back in the pockets of Queensland mums and dads to ensure that all students, regardless of their circumstances, have the best opportunity to succeed at school. 

“During their decade of decline, the former Labor Government didn’t have a cost of living relief plan for Queensland families. 
 
“Labor’s legacy in education is ten years of chaos and crisis and schools were left to crumble with a maintenance backlog of more than $441 million. 
 
“The Crisafulli Government is delivering the fresh start Queenslanders voted for, with a record budget of more than $23.1 billion, more teachers and teacher aides, safer classrooms with Behaviour Boost funding and the lowest regional vacancy rate in the past five years. 
 
“We’re building 22 new schools, including nine special schools in Queensland’s fastest-growing regions, hiring more workplace health and safety officers and our NAPLAN participation is the highest it has been since 2019. 
 
“All Queenslanders deserve access to a world class education system, no matter where they live. 
 
“I want to thank all of our students, principals, teachers, teacher aides, cleaners, administration staff and groundskeepers for their dedication and hard work this term, and I wish everyone a safe and enjoyable school holidays.”
