Add a Super Moon to your travel tales in Brisbane

A super moon happens when the moon’s position is closest from Earth. The event is called “perigee” and the main characteristic is that the moon appears bigger and brighter. If you are a visitor or if you just recently arrived to Brisbane to follow your studies, this is a great opportunity to socialize and experience a stunning event.

This alignment will be seen over the weekend, when the Earth’s natural satellite will be exceptionally bright on Saturday and Sunday nights. To witness the moon’s beauty, many will be heading to Hightgate Hill park or Mt Coot-tha as they provide great views to watch the moon rising. Mt Coot-tha has one of the highest points view of the city and also has a café and restaurant to help you get through the night if it is a bit windy or cold.

Now, if you are looking for adventure or want to celebrate an special occasion far from the city under the moonlight, visit Sandgate and maybe enjoy some drinks at the Full Moon Hotel. It is aroun 30 minutes’ drive from Brisbane, but I guarantees an amazing view of the moon emerging from the ocean.

For those who would like to attempt some photo shooting, on August 10 the moon will rise at 4:54 pm, so you can get great photos of the moon over a still light landscape. The moon will be highest in the sky at 11:37 pm and set at 6:14 am the next morning. So it should be a great night for moon watching and some great memories to take home. So get your camera, grab some friends and stare at the sky!
